December 23: Kitchen Gods Festival

Every year on this day, the Kitchen Gods ride carps to fly to heaven to report to the Jade Emperor on all the good and bad deeds of the household. They return to earth on New Year's Eve to continue their duties of guarding the hearth.

March: Festival for Tending Graves

On this day, children and grandchildren visit the graves of their ancestors. If they see tall grass, they cut it down. If the soil is loose, they fill it in. Then, they go home to make offerings to their ancestors.
